The Zimbrick Volunteer Network (ZVN) proudly announces its partnership with Independent Living, Inc. for the adoption of an Evening Meals on Wheels route.
ZVN has started with one biweekly route and has been making deliveries on Madison’s west side since early March. On the Zimbrick Fish Hatchery Road campus, there are 12 volunteers specifically for this project and that number continues to grow.
Zimbrick not only provides the volunteers for Evening Meals on Wheels, they also supply the vehicles. Being one of the largest car dealers in Wisconsin, Zimbrick is more than happy to provide the wheels! The vehicles that have been used thus far include the 2011 Honda Civic, the 2011 GMC Acadia and the 2011 Saab 9-3 Sport Sedan – all of which have been wrapped by Monarch Media Designs.
Evening Meals on Wheels program manager Michelle Christenson has embraced ZVN’s assistance.
“The staff of Zimbrick found room in their heart and in their vehicles to deliver Evening Meals on Wheels to our elderly and homebound citizens,” Christenson said. “Delivering a hot, nutritious meal means so much to our clients. A volunteer from Zimbrick may be the only human contact our clients have all day. Zimbrick volunteers are our eyes and ears in the community, ensuring that our clients are safe as well as receiving their evening meal. Many thanks to the staff of Zimbrick who adopted a route.”
Independent Living, Inc.’s mission is to support adults as they manage their independence by providing a variety of care services, skilled home health care and housing options to maintain -health and well-being. It matches the commitment Zimbrick has for building strong relationships with our community.
The Evening Meals on Wheels program ensures delivery of hot, nutritious dinners to older or disabled adults in the area. Routes are run, Monday through Friday, starting at 4:30 p.m. and typically take one hour to complete.
If you have any questions or interest in the Adopt-a-Route program, please contact Michelle Christenson at 608-204-0923 or visit http://www.indepenliving.com/.
