Zimbrick Honda has always been environmentally conscious.  Now we’re going to make it official by joining Honda’s official dealer recycling program!

The Blue Skies For Our Children program represents Honda’s environmental vision of a society where future generations can experience the joy and freedom of mobility while living within a sustainable society.  Forty years ago, Honda engineers first expressed these words as they took on the challenge to meet the stringent exhaust emissions standards of the 1970 U.S. Clean Air Act.  Their success fueled four decades of leadership in introducing environmental technologies.

Committing to the Blue Skies For Our Children recycling program means that Zimbrick Honda will recycle all cardboard, paper/newspaper, plastic bottles, aluminum cans, light bulbs, and small batteries, in addition to continuing to follow federal and state environmental compliance requirements.

The challenge of sustainability facing the automotive industry today encompasses numerous energy and environmental issues.  Foremost is the reduction of greenhouse gas emissions (CO2) that contribute to global climate change.  We must also transition away from our dependence on fossil fuels and move to renewable forms of energy.

In June of 2011, Honda pledged to reduce CO2 emissions from its global products, including automobiles, motorcycles/ATVs and power equipment by 30 percent by the end of 2020, compared to benchmark year 2000 levels. In addition to reducing CO2 emissions during production, Honda will bolster its efforts to reduce CO2 emissions from all corporate activities including, for the first time, our network of parts suppliers.

Honda has a strong track record of achieving such goals.  In 2010, Honda reached a goal set in 2006 to reduce global CO2 emissions from global products by 10 percent by the end of 2010 (also compared to the benchmark of year 2000 levels).

Honda’s comprehensive approach to environmental innovation is central to achieving our vision of a sustainable future.  These technologies include a natural gas vehicle, hybrids, and fuel cell electric, battery electric and plug-in hybrid electric vehicles, along with new energy creation and distribution technologies, including Honda’s original solar cells.
